 NANJILONLINE RATING

After giving two blockbusters Khushi and Valee S.J.Surayh has roped in "mozart of the east" A R Rahman to compose for his latest venture "NEW" and lyrics penned down by Vairamuthu.According to S J Surayh NEW was supposed to be a landmark album for A R Rahman. Is it so???
Let us see....

NEW NEW

Blaaze,Karthik, Vijayprakash, Sunitha and Tanvi

The song starts of with a rap piece by Blaaze which is quite catchy infact this song has become a big hit in chennai.Lots of computer sounds, beats very likeable song esspecially when Blaaze sings.Other singers do have done their bit but this song clearly belongs to Blaaze.

A sure HIT.

Sakkara

SPB,Sujata

This song has all the elements to become a huge hit. A R Rahman has used every available south indian instruments in this song, nadhaswaram, thavil to name a few. sujata has done a good job but one feels its the time for SPB to retire.

Thootal poo malarum

Harini,Hariharan

A lot was said about this song, there were conflicting reports whether it is a remix or the makers have used only lyrics..yes the tune is completely original and very likeable. It was a big gamble taken by AR Rahman to compose a dfferent tune for a old song but as usual has done a excellent job.

But one feels he should have taken due care while choosing the loops. The loops used in this song is available everywhere and used quite often.Harini and Hariharan are to be watched in this song they have done justice to the song. Again lots of computer song and the song is well picturised on Surayh and Simran. AR Rahman has used Accordion in a effective manner. Lets see how people react to this song.

Kalaiyil ezhundadhum

Unni krishnan,Sadhana Sargam

No doubt Best song of the album. Unni Krishnan and Sadhna have rendered beautifully. The pianos and flute enrich the song. Very simple tune but is very effective.nice job by vairamuthu. This song truly deserves a special recognition.

If u wanna

Anupama and chorus

Well this song might be composed specially for telugu audience. The english rap is quite irritating.this is supposed to be simran's introduction song. could have been much better. Lyrics are horrible and nonsense.

Spiderman

Kunal,Sadhna

Wow!! Beautifully composed and brilliantly sung!! The guitar piece is absolute mindblowing and is used as a loop. The voices are digitaly mixed nice concept very well directed song by Rahman. Kunal is the most happening singer today has done a excellent job and well supported by Sadhna. Truly a well composed song.

Kumbakonam

Nithyashree,Vinayakan

This is supposed to be a folk song. This song is quite irritating and boring song. Feels like S J suryah had pressurised Rahman to compose the song which is equally badly sung by Nityashree. No scope for this song perhaps this song should have been excluded.

On the whole New is a average album.Though it has beautiful melodies like spideman and Kalaiyil ezhundadhum but songs like kumbakonam spoils the good atmosphere of the former.

S J Surayah's remark that this album will be a landmark...doesnt seem so in respect with the quality of the songs.

On the sales point of view this album should be on a profitable side.

VERDICT : If you are a Hardcore Rahman fan then it is a must buy.
