4 Geethai - Tamil Music

STARRING : VIJAY, AMEESHA PATEL          DIRECTOR : K.P.JEGAN

MUSIC : YUVAN SHANKAR RAJA        LYRICS : Valee, Pa.Vijay, Yugabharathi

 NANJILONLINE RATING

Yuvan Shankar Raja is flooding the TFM with his audio releases, "Geethai" His first project with Vijay had released. The film was initially slated for Tamil New Year release but now postponed for another month.

Music of Vijay's last few releases wasn't doing well like his earlier films. After the failure of Vaseegara he is seriously concentrating on his new movie Geethai where the music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. But the same disappointment continues here too.

"Naan oadum" by Mano and Tippu should be an introductory song for Vijay and penned by Vaali. After a long time, Mano has sung in Yuvan's music and he has done a good job with vocal support from Tippu. But the tune and lyrics is very ordinary. It might be a song like the "O unkle" song in Vijay's earlier film Minsara Kanna.

"Mercury poove" is next and is sung by Nidesh Gopalan, Bhavatharani and Bonnie Chakraborthy and lyrics by Pa.Vijay. The song is not in usual one pallavi and two charanam style. It begins with a melodious humming by Bhava and suddenly gains speed and with nerve racking "mercury poove" line. This is the only better song of the album.

"Vasiyakaara" sung by Devan and Chithra Sivaraman is a total junk by all means including the lyrics by Yugabharathi. It features again in B side with Hariharan's voice. This Vasiyakaara song is just to fill the cassette tape.
Nothing special in Side A.

Side B starts off with "Manase" by Tippu, Bonnie Chakraborthy and Swarnalatha is based on traditional Bengali Fakiri tune and the credits are promptly given on the cassette cover itself. Swarnalatha sounds squeaky at places and as usual Tippu has elevated the spirit of the song by his plastic voice. Pa.Vijay has given some meaningful lyrics for this song. Finally the last and the least is "Annamalai" a gana song sung by Tippu and Devan. Yuvan Shankar has struggled with this song and the lyrics add to the woeful tune.

Overall its really surprising whether it is the Yuvan Shankar Raja who scored the music for Kadhal Kondaen. It completely looses Yuvan's touch. The songs might become popular when the movie released. But, honestly there is nothing special in this album. The songs failed to impress us.

WOW! : Nothing
Oops! : Yuvan Shankar Raja's music.

VERDICT : Only buy this album if you're a die hard Vijay fan. Otherwise, better don't buy this album for good music and don't waste your time and money.
