In this state Kanyakumari is the only district with soil, rainfall and topography for the growth of natural rubber trees. Although there are many private processors of natural rubber, Arasu Rubber Corporation, Nagercoil which come into existence with effect from 1-10-84 is a major processor in this field. The corporation has an extent of4279-78 hectres of rubber plantations. The process is being monitored by six rubber division as indicated below:

1. Keeripparai
2. Keeripparai factory.
3. Manalodai
4. Chittar
5. Mylar
6. Kodayar

There are 3 rubber factories at Keeripparai, Perunchani and Mylar. There are 6,89,054 tappable rubber trees under the corporation. Latex and rubber scraps from the field are being collected from the field and are being processed as "Conex" (Concentrated latex), R.S.S. (Ribbed smoked sheet), E.B.C (Estate brown criepel) and skim crops and are utilised as raw material for tyre, foam, cadom etc.

There are 2143 workers are employed in the corporation, out of which 478 workers are Srilankans Repatriates. Good welfare facilies to the labours are being maintained.
